Miss Sarah Gilligan, a member of Liverpool Astronomical Society, was awarded the runner-up prize in the first Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.
The competition was organised by the Royal Observatory Greenwich, and the BBC’s Sky at Night Magazine as part of International Year of Astronomy 2009. Sarah was able to attend the presentation in London last Wednesday, 9th September 2009, and receive her prize of £100 and a year’s free subs to the Sky at Night magazine.
