If you can see this message then you are using a browser (probably Internet Explorer) which does not support the international web standards used by the LAS website and many others.
Click here for an example of how the site should look
.

Please consider using an alternative browser - especially if you are on Windows XP which only supports the outdated Internet Explorer 8 browser - such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome which do have support for these web standards. As well as not supporting modern features and web standards, old versions of browsers - especially Internet Explorer - can expose your computer to security risks. The Browse Happy website has a list of the latest versions of all major browsers, including Internet Explorer (but remember Windows XP only supports up to IE8!)

If updating/changing your browser is not possible, do not panic - all of the LAS website is still available to you and we are working to make the layout compatible with outdated browsers.

In the meantime, you will have to scroll down a way to see the page you wish to view. You can also skip past the moon phase info, etc. and click here after you've loaded a page to jump to the content.

Liverpool MakeFest 2019

Saturday, 29th June 2019 @ 09:00 - 17:00 BST

The LAS will be at the annual MakeFest event again this year, on Saturday 29th June, with a selection of Apollo memorabilia (in the run-up to our own event at the Library in mid-July) as well as our Solar ‘scopes on the roof.

The MakeFest event is FREE but you will need to book a ticket if you want to come along.

MakeFest is always a great day and even if you’re not in the mood for astronomical activities, there’s plenty of other things to see and do such as:

Cubert

Cubert is a 8x8x8 RGB LED cube that is controlled using the BBC micro:bit – a small micro controller. Many people have made big light up cubes before but Cubert is different because shea. is coded using blocks!b. is not just a piece of art, it’s an interactive cube of games!

Hacky Racers

Hacky Racers is a fun ‘motorsport’ series where very small, less than £500 electric vehicles are raced by the teams that built them, and where putting on a show (judged by audience vote) is valued as highly as speed. We’ll have a stall outside the main library entrance for Liverpool MakeFest 2019.

Made Invaders

MadeInvaders is a a live action computer game. 30 seconds of structured panic, as the players try to load nerf blasters, and hit the lighted targets as much as possible to see how many points they can score. Bragging rights for the day are on offer to the most successful player(s)!

The Cassandra Complex

Cassandra is an interactive, electronic fortune teller machine.

Women In Science

Created and curated by the Library Service the exhibition was originally inspired by the Liverpool MakeFest Festival has been designed to reflect the diversity of women working within the Science, Technology, and Engineering and Maths disciplines as well as highlighting the increasing fusion between these fields and artistic and cultural creativity.

and much more.
