DESCRIPTION:The Annual General Meeting of Liverpool Astronomical Society for the 2024-2025 session will be held on Friday\, May 16th from 19:00 to 21:15. \n\n\n\nMembers of the public are welcome to attend (for free)\, but please consider joining our Society if you attend more than two monthly meetings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout This Meeting\n\n\n\nThe meeting will consist of Society business followed by a lecture by James Tardiff\, an educator at The Intrepid Sea\, Air\, And Space Museum in New York\, USA. \n\n\n\nRunning Order:\n\n\n\nPlease note that times following the opening of the meeting are approximate to account for discussion of Society matters\, etc. \n\n\n\n19:00 – AGM Opens\, followed by Society business matters20:00 – 20:15 – Tea break in the communal area followed by raffle in the meeting room.20:15 – 21:15 – Lecture followed by Q&A and the Vote of Thanks\, and meeting close. \n\n\n\nAbout The Lecture\n\n\n\nJim’s talk is titled: \n\n\n\n\nIs There Anyone Out There?: The Search for Life in the Cosmos \n\n\n\n\nOutline:\n\n\n\nDuring the talk we’ll: \n\n\n\n\nHave a quick look at what makes up “life as we know it”\n\n\n\nExplore the conditions necessary for life\n\n\n\nLook at the best candidates to find life in our solar system\n\n\n\nExamine the topic of Exoplanets & exo-life\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Speaker\n\n\n\nFor over 13 years James Tardiff (Jim) has been an educator at The Intrepid Sea\, Air\, And Space Museum based on the aircraft carrier Intrepid on the Hudson River\, where he has had the opportunity to explore and educate the public about his passion: space and spaceflight history.One of his responsibilities is looking after Enterprise\, the very first Space Shuttle.
