DESCRIPTION:Come along to our Solar Day at the Miller & Carter Steakhouse\, Otterspool\, L17 5AL from 12:30 til 16:30 where we’ll have specially adapted telescopes in which you can safely view the sun. In addition\, there will be a talk on\, no matter the weather. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTwo images of the solar disc\, side-by-side. The first shows the sun in hydrogen-alpha light\, and the second shows the sun in ordinary visible white light. The hydrogen-alpha image makes it possible to see details like prominences\, flares and other structures present in the solar chromosphere\, while the white-light image shows details in the solar photosphere\, such as sunspots.

DESCRIPTION:5th October 14:00 – EVENT CANCELLED\n\nMessage from the Croxteth Park Volunteers Group\nPlease be aware that we have had to cancel our Astronomy Night on health and safety grounds due to incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour in the park last night. We have consulted with the park management and Merseyside Police and we feel we cannot take the risk of going ahead with the possibility of people’s safety being endangered. As this is a free event\, we do not have the resources to employ additional security that would enable us to go ahead and we simply cannot put people’s welfare and wellbeing at risk.\nWe hope that we can rearrange this event in future if the security issues can be addressed.
