anyone looking at asteroid 433 Eros?

    hi. my name is Pete. I am a new member of the LAS.
    i was wondering if anyone will be looking at asteroid 433 Eros tomorrow night and wouldn’t mind myself and my girlfriend coming along to share the experience????

    Hi Pete, sorry but I am over on the wirral tomorrow night giving a talk to a cub group so I wont be up at Pex Hill to open up.

    Hi Peter,

    I will be at PexHill tomorrow with my friend Tony, we went up there for the first time last week, unfortunately it was overcast so hoping for a better night tomorrw

    We will need very up to date positions for the asteroid if we attempt to go for it as it will move pretty fast. The last one was broadcast live (after midnight) on the internet and telescopes had to be constantly nudged to keep up with it.
    I will check and see if it is being broadcast anywhere live and get back to you, you never know we might get a clear sky on Wednesday :-)

    I have checked its postion from midnight tonight (under Leo and lying in Sextans) and it has the same same (more or less) declination as the Orion Nebula but does not get due south until 0200 U.T when it is at its highest, positions are below for each hour.

    thanks dave/ben and everyone else. you’ve been most helpful!
    i think i’m gonna get up to pex hill tonight and see if anyone has a scope out to view it.
    i’m gonna have to invest in a decent scope soon!
