I just bought a Sky-Watcher 200p reflector with an EQ5 mount. This is my first telescope.

Everything I try to view is completely out of focus. I have tried collimating by using the instructions, YouTube and other online help. I made a collimating cap with a pierced film canister. As far as I can tell it all looks as it should. I am very frustrated. Can anyone offer me any suggestions on where I might be going wrong?

    Thank you in advance.

Hi Steve without seeing the scope it’s hard to say what may be going wrong, if you are
local why not bring it along to our observatory one Wednesday evening and we can help you sort it out or bring it along to our sidewalk event at Halewood on Friday 3rd October.
