    Good image Paul, was this just one image, if so then try taking 10 or more and stack them together. This will give you more signal and improve the backround.
    Try the Dumbell Neb (M27) too, much bigger but should record with similair exposures. Try and get as long as you can before any trailing shows.

    Hi David,
    This is one of 7 images that I took, I tried to stack them with Deep Sky Stacker but did not do any darks and flats at the time so I did not get a result with that.Also imaging deep sky is all new to me and this was my first attempt with a planetary nebula so I need to understand the process more. I will definately try to get M27 next time we get clear skies.Thanks for your advice it is appreciated.

    I was looking at M57 the other night and the sky was still bright at 11pm so it is not easy at the mo, Better as the dark nights draw in. :-)
