Hi all,i am trying to image sunspots using a Skywatcher 100mm f5 refractor with baader solar film and a Philips toucam pro 860k webcam. The camera images terestial and lunar fine but I can get no sun spots.I focus on the edge of the sun to get the sharpest image but no sunspots are visible.I have tried all the different brightness, contrast, frame rates etc but to no avail. What am I doing wrong, any help please.I am using Philips software modified to run on Win 7 home premium and or Cyberlink webcam which came installed on my laptop.Visually using an eyepiece the sunspots are very clear so its not an optical problem.

    Hi John,
Try a program called “sharpcap” it will run on windows 7 and is easier to use than the supplied philips software, from what you describe with the lunar shots I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. Try adjusting the exposure setting and set the frame rate to 10fps.
