Monthly Meeting: Friday, 20th April, 2018

The April 2018 monthly meeting of Liverpool Astronomical Society for the 2017 – 2018 (136th) session will be held on Friday, April 20th from 19:00 to 21:30. Lecture by Sy Liebergot on being a Flight Controller in Mission Control during the Apollo 13 crisis

PLEASE NOTE: TICKETS ARE NOW SOLD OUT. Apollo 13 was to be the third Lunar landing until an explosion in an oxygen tank crippled the spacecraft, leaving the three man crew in grave danger 200,000 miles from Earth. In his lecture, Sy will talk about his key role in the Apollo 13 crisis, how he made the call that ended the mission to land on the Moon and how, as part of the Mission control team, returned the crew safely back to Earth.
