Sic Itur Ad Astra – Thus The Way To The Stars : 143 years of astronomy
If you can see this message then you are using a browser (probably Internet Explorer) which does not support the international web standards used by the LAS website and many others. Click here for an example of how the site should look.
Please consider using an alternative browser - especially if you are on Windows XP which only supports the outdated Internet Explorer 8 browser - such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome which do have support for these web standards. As well as not supporting modern features and web standards, old versions of browsers - especially Internet Explorer - can expose your computer to security risks. The Browse Happy website has a list of the latest versions of all major browsers, including Internet Explorer (but remember Windows XP only supports up to IE8!)
If updating/changing your browser is not possible, do not panic - all of the LAS website is still available to you and we are working to make the layout compatible with outdated browsers.
When and Where? Weekly public meetings are held every Wednesday evening (except if it falls too close to Christmas), between 19:00 (7 PM) and 21:00 (9 PM) local time (e.g. 7pm BST in summer, 7pm UTC in winter) in the Liverpool Astronomical Society’s Leighton Observatory. Can My Children Attend on a Wednesday Evening? We do not recommend that under-14s attend on Wednesday evenings as it can get extremely busy, and some may find it a little overwhelming. We do run a monthly Young Astronomers’ club from autumn to spring, which you can find details of here. That said, we understand […]Continue Reading »
This informal and/or short talk will take place on Friday, March 5th from 19:30 to 21:00. These informal talks are for LAS members only. These talks will be much less formal than the main meetings; there won’t be any Society Business section at the start, and they won’t be minuted. The exact format will depend on the individual talk itself. Dave Eagle joins us for a relaxed, hands-on introduction to stacking and processing astro-imagery. The format for the group will be with Dave as lead, but it will be open and fluid with mics and cameras on if you want. […]Continue Reading »
