If you can see this message then you are using a browser (probably Internet Explorer) which does not support the international web standards used by the LAS website and many others.
Click here for an example of how the site should look
.

Please consider using an alternative browser - especially if you are on Windows XP which only supports the outdated Internet Explorer 8 browser - such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome which do have support for these web standards. As well as not supporting modern features and web standards, old versions of browsers - especially Internet Explorer - can expose your computer to security risks. The Browse Happy website has a list of the latest versions of all major browsers, including Internet Explorer (but remember Windows XP only supports up to IE8!)

If updating/changing your browser is not possible, do not panic - all of the LAS website is still available to you and we are working to make the layout compatible with outdated browsers.

In the meantime, you will have to scroll down a way to see the page you wish to view. You can also skip past the moon phase info, etc. and click here after you've loaded a page to jump to the content.

“When NASA Went to the Moon” – Apollo 17 50th Anniversary Event

Saturday, 10th December 2022 @ 09:30 16:00 GMT

Poster for LAS event "When NASA Went to the Moon" taking place on December 10th 2022 at Liverpool Central Library and Liverpool World Museum. This event celebrates the 50th anniversary of Apolloo 17, the (to-date) most recent crewed lunar mission.

Liverpool Astronomical Society in association with Liverpool Central Library and Liverpool World Museum would like to invite everybody to join us on Saturday, 10th December 2022 for a day celebrating the 50th anniversary of Apollo 17 – currently standing as the final manned mission to the moon.

This event is taking place simultaneously in two prominent city centre venues, conveniently located next door to each other – Liverpool Central Library, and Liverpool World Museum, both on William Brown Street, Liverpool, L3 8EW.

Entry to the activities and information desks in Central Library is free. Talks being held at the World Museum are subject to a small charge and require a ticket, on sale here.

As well as Liverpool Astronomical Society, other astronomical organisations from various regions will also be taking part.

Whether you want to make a day of it, or just pop in for an hour in between shopping, we’d love to see you there and enrich your knowledge of astronomy with talks and presentations, activity desks, solar telescopes to view the Sun safely, radio equipment to listen to the sky for astronomical objects and satellites, VR headsets to simulate different environments and more – all open to the public, all ages welcome, and for free.

For those visiting from outside the city by train, the venues are less than five minutes walking time from Liverpool Lime Street Station – come and see us instead of sitting waiting for your connecting trains!
