Please consider using an alternative browser - especially if you are on Windows XP which only supports the outdated Internet Explorer 8 browser - such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome which do have support for these web standards. As well as not supporting modern features and web standards, old versions of browsers - especially Internet Explorer - can expose your computer to security risks. Monthly Meeting: Prof. Karim Jaffer – “Two-eyed Seeing”

The February 2022 monthly meeting of Liverpool Astronomical Society for the 2019 – 2022 (138th?) session will be held on Friday, February 18th from 19:00 to 21:00.


Our guest speaker this month is Prof. Karim Jaffer from John Abbott College in Montreal, Canada. Karim is the Public Events Coordinator of the Montreal Centre of the RASC (Royal Astronomical Society of Canada), a Program Manager of the National RASC Education & Public Outreach Committee, an Explore Alliance Ambassador and Global Star Party presenter, and a Reach Out and Touch Space Panelist on AstroRadio. Karim’s lecture is entitled:

“Two-eyed Seeing”

The night sky we enjoy as astronomers and hobbyists isn’t ours alone, but shared by cultures throughout the world – both now and in the past. Take a tour through some of the stories & legends from Indigenous and Ancient cultures, with an appreciation for the science, observations and connections to nature captured within these tales.
